A Comparative Study on Mortality of Trauma – Our Experience in Peshawar

Objective: To compare the mortality among different modes of trauma and areas/parts bodyinvolved by trauma.Study Design: Comparative descriptive study.Place Duration Study: This study was carried out in Department Critical Care Medicine, Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Peshawar, from October 2015 to September 2017.Materials Methods: All patients with admitted Intensive Unit (ITC) CMHPeshawar were included this study. data including their cause injury areas involved werecollected on computerized forms using Microsoft Access 2007 followed till death ordischarge ITC. The collection prospective cross-sectional.Results: During period a total 448 ITC CMH Peshawar.Males (93.3 %) outnumbered females (6.7%) almost 14:1. Mean age 31 ± 13.4 years (range1.5 88 years). mean stay 6.8 6.5 days. Out these patients, 394 (87.9%)survived shifted lower levels care. survival ratio slightly higher femalescompared males p-value 0.348. Patients who survived relatively younger (30 years+ 13) thanthe expired (37 15) 0.071. stayed oneday longer (7 days) than (6 days), 0.057. Depending upon trauma,the highest seen burns (40%) RTA (17.2%) GSW (10.6) P-value0.011. Similarly depending onthe area body is burns(40%), polytrauma (16.7%) head (16.1%).Conclusion: Trauma problem young adults which can lead disabilities loss life its victims. commonest high fatality rate. involvementpolytrauma due any are common carry mortality. Burns lesscommon but deadliest trauma.
